This is a page facilitates build and maintenance of new rules Rules.
A rule is defined as the set of programming statements which reference a variable. Therefore the primary task in defining rules is the identification of correct variables. In the diagram, RULE-1 is concerning references to variable ORD_VAL (ORDER VALUE). Ie. the Rule is defined to determine how Order-Value is calculated.
Rules can also be filtered on Statement-Category. For example, data-base or screen handling operations may not be of interest in extracted rules. The statement categories are set globally in the Business-Rule-Extraction screen.
Define a new rule - click on "New" button. Rule names will be used to create directories on file system. Therefore, avoid using ':' , '/', '\' or '*' characters.
Go to " Find " box - enter the name of a variable which exists in the application. E.g. enter "ORD-VAL" or "ORD_%" to find all variables whose name begins with "ORD_" .
Select a variable From the list of variables under the FIND edit box, and drag it into the "Variables" or "Programs" area. The system will automatically populate both "Variables" and "Programs" area. If the selected variable is contained within a COPY-FILE, then all of the programs which reference the variables will be listed.
If necessary, Add other variables to the rule.
Select 'Rule Applies to All Programs' If you want the system to re-scan and find the applicable programs at at run-time. This feature is helpful when not all programs have been fed into the repository at rule creation time.
When rule is composed - then click on ' Process' button. The rules will be generated in HTML format in directory C:\CORECT_Generated\bre\[RULE-NAME]\ProgramName.html
The "Date Last Generated" field is then updated automatically.
Click on "Process" button to see the result of the Rule Extraction
Enable the 'Export' button prior to 'Processing' to make the system automatically save the processed data.
